Overview

Kanto Freestyle Breakfast Ateneo is a vibrant addition to Quezon City's bustling breakfast scene, perfectly positioned near Ateneo’s main gate and Regis Center. As part of the well-loved Kanto Freestyle Breakfast family, this branch embraces a modern yet cozy atmosphere that draws in students, professionals, and families looking for hearty Filipino comfort food with a touch of flair.

What sets this restaurant apart is its wide-ranging menu that balances classic Filipino favorites with creative twists. Signature dishes like the New Zealand Beef Tapa stand out for their tender, well-marinated quality and thoughtful execution. The tapa captures the essence of traditional flavors, carrying the perfect blend of savory and slightly sweet, elevated by juicy tomatoes and umami-rich rice. Alongside, the Crispy Corned Beef offers a textured contrast with its satisfying crunch, while the Antipolo Suman paired with mango provides a sweet note to round out the meal.

Breakfast classics like the Nutella Ganache Pancakes and Deep Fried Oreos showcase the brand’s flair for playful decadence, ideal for those craving a sweet start. Savory options such as the Mushroom and Cheese Omelette or French Toast served with bacon and eggs provide comforting, well-portioned plates. The ala carte selections allow diners flexibility, catering to both traditional tastes and those seeking lighter or more indulgent choices.

Inside, the space impresses with a spacious two-floor layout that promotes a welcoming, airy environment. Plenty of seating and available power outlets upstairs make it a favorable spot for students and remote workers. Its proximity to Ateneo and offices cements its appeal as a versatile hangout for study sessions, casual meetings, or laid-back dining. Although WiFi is absent, mobile reception is sufficient, maintaining connectivity for guests on the go.

Service experiences seem mixed; many guests commend the warm, familial staff greetings and efficient table service, but some mention lapses in cleanliness and attentiveness that could be improved, especially during busy hours. Nonetheless, the open, clean interiors and accessible location help counterbalance these concerns.

Kanto Freestyle Breakfast Ateneo embodies a modern, approachable take on Filipino breakfast fare. It excels in delivering familiar tastes with generous portions, all within a comfortable and convenient setting. Whether you're looking for a robust tapa breakfast, an indulgent sweet treat, or a relaxed place to work or catch up with friends, this spot thoughtfully caters to a broad audience, maintaining its reputation for quality and warmth in every dish.

October 2025 Much like its sister branches but this one is a bit more new and has a large 2nd floor area but still has a 24x7 operation Menu is extensive and mainly Filipino. Servings are ample and a bit higher due to plating and availability. Very spacious interiors

This branch just opened and the overall experience has been amazing! From the food, to the service, and to the overall vibe, it has been very enjoyable to be here! I think I found my favorite place to eat, study, or hangout, considering it is also right next to Regis Center. I ordered the New Zealand beef tapa, and the portion was decent. This particular dish is more on the pricey side, but the quality of the ingredients makes up for it. The beef was tender, the tomatoes were juicy, and the rice was umami in itself. There are a lot of other dishes that seem to be more value. I also ordered a cappuccino for only PHP 95, and it is possibly the best value coffee in this area at that price. Seats are plentiful, and there are outlets upstairs. Although there seems to be no WiFi, the signal reception is decent enough for mobile data usage. Definitely will be coming back here again, I hope that this quality is maintained.

The food is very good, filipino comfort food done well and pleasing to the eye. The daing na bangus is better than most I have tried. The spam was, well, like any spam we have had. It is good that they offer eggs in many ways, sunny side up, scrambled, boiled and poached. That's rare for breakfast places. Coffee is ok, tho nothing special. The service is poor tho. I seldom complain and it does not take a lot to make me happy, but this place: does not clean after patrons leave. Rice droppings are on the seats, trash is on the floor, and I needed to repeatedly ask for the used plates and utensils of the previous patrons to be cleared. To top it all: the unused utensil of the previous patron was not changed, which left us with not enough utensils. The staff looks tired and not pleased to serve. Parking is available, but the street can become busy when cars line up to cross Katipunan Ave. Will come back in a pinch. I do hope the service improves.

Curiosity and cravings satisfied upon my dining here. Just as I entered the store, all of the staff greeted me with warm smiles, reminiscent of a family that you’ve known for a long time. It’s easy to pick a spot (although it was still Holy (Black) Saturday so I guess there wasn’t much customers dining out yet. For which I am also surprised that they have meat in their menu during this time (so I guess some food establishments carry non-traditional approach during such ocassion nowadays). But nevertheless, I had the opportunity to eat meat so I got their best one in the menu. I order for the New Zealand Beef Tapa and also Bacon filled Tortang Talong (Eggplant Omelette.. or Aubergine Omelette depending on which country you were from) along with Sisig Rice (I really dig deep into the meat-fest, my apologies). As for my appetizers, I ordered for the Sunny-side up eggs, Toasts (white bread slices), and a Kesong Puti (un aged white cheese). To further spike up my appetite, I ordered for a Cafe affogato to start the meal. The interior speaks of a modern vibe with a homey feel to it (think of a condo showroom - classy but inviting). Although the store’s name has the word “kanto” in it, there’s nothing kanto-ish with the set-up and food preparations. Hence, I gave 5 stars for the Service and the Atmosphere. But as to why I gave it just 4 stars in terms of Food (Quality and Quantity wise - including taste, texture, composition and plating), my explanation is on the comments below: New Zealand Beef Tapa: I commend their recipe for keeping the classic taste and texture of the Tapa.. although there only a subtle hint of tangy taste to it but the blend of soy and sweetness with the black pepper marinade brings out the home run to this entree. I was a bit disappointed however with the plating as I had the impression that this dish is of the top-biller, so when it was served plainly alongside with the Tortang talong that has lots of garnishing on top.. you may think twice if something must have been overlooked. Bacon Filled Tortang Talong: Since i already mentioned it beforehand so I’m putting it next on the review… surprise! surprise! the humble tortang talong has been elevated to a pedestal… it looked like an American Meat Loaf sliced and plated but once you get to eat the first bite - you’re sure to be hooked. There were lots of potato cubes though (as an extender perhaps, and only few bits of bacon which is a bummer since the name of the dish is emphasizing the “bacon”) but nevertheless, the insides are juicy and tender. at first I assumed that there is a “crust” from the initial look but it’s soft like a custard tart. what i love most about this dish is that despite all these surprises, you will get that familiar taste of the traditional eggplant omelette… smoky and earthy. the plating is simple (i guess they know that the real star is the inside of the eggplant omelette), but I wish i could’ve tried tasting those swirls of what seems to be tomato ketchup ( as it surely brings a different zest to the flavors of the tortang talong). Toasts with Kesong Puti: ughh.. how do I even start.. i was hoping that this could be my appetizer ( to boost my appetite) but I’m completely disappointed. Well, I guess for the price of it I don’t have anything more to expect. The toasts are nothing special (even the butter has nothing extraordinary) and the Kesong Puti is the real downer.. to be fair, I asked the crew which province they got the kesong puti from ( no one knew its origin so that should’ve been my hint not to expect much but still I went ahead to try for the sake of experience). And the experience was not spectacular… well it is, but on the lower spectrum. The cheese is dry as an aged parmesan, and the taste is so bland.. A bit of context, I grew up in Cavite City where the citizens are known for their love for food.. and one of those food I grew up with is Kesong Puti which my lola used to buy every Sunday and that goes with pan de sal.. always! so imagine my horror when I finally tried this so called Kesong Puti (check the video)

Our doctor friends invited us to this neighborhood breakfast restaurant for an early dinner KFB across KFC and on the streey going yp Ateneo main gate. Serving mostly stidebrs, the average age of its diners increased when 3 pairs of seniors (us) cane in . The place is clean, has a second floor abd clean bathroom. One usually orders & pays at the counter, a staff cane tobour table to get our orders. SO NICE. We ordered salad, pandesal with 3 spreads, New Zealand Tapa& lukban longganisa. All great! And inexpensive. The pandesal was soft @ warm, the yapa was freshly coojed ;with 2 eggs served as ordered) and the lukban longganisa, ! We paid less tgan P2K for 6 persons. Staff was courteous & efixient, service was great. Tecommended !!

Had a nice breakfast at Kanto Freestyle Breakfast Ateneo. The food was okay and satisfying, good enough to start the day. The prices are reasonable, especially for the serving size. The server was also nice and accommodating, which made the experience better. Overall, a decent and budget-friendly spot for a casual breakfast near Ateneo.

We usually go to their Marikina branch, so it’s nice they have one here along Katip. Went around 8AM and got lucky with the limited parking. Honey garlic chicken (₱255 for regular sized leg-thigh cut in half) is still our go-to, meat inside can be a bit bland (soy sauce helps ) but we keep coming back for that super crispy outside skin. Pancakes (₱110) were on the dry/crumbly side, deep-fried Oreos (₱111) were okay. Spent around ₱800 for everything, sulit na in today’s inflation haha

Surprisingly one of the nicest branches of Kanto Freestyle I've been to! They were able to accomodate our big group of 20 with the space they have on the second floor. The food was standard, can't go wrong with the honey garlic chicken, also tried the French toast of my friend, it was sweet and fruity. Standard waiting time, good service, staff were courteous. The bathroom was well maintained. Would come back here again.
